About the Opportunity

As Charta Health's founding Talent Lead, you will be instrumental in building the engine that fuels our growth and mission. This is a unique opportunity to establish the entire talent acquisition function from the ground up in a rapidly scaling AI healthcare startup. You will partner directly with leadership to understand our ambitious goals and translate them into a strategic hiring plan. You'll design, implement, and manage the processes, systems, and strategies needed to attract, recruit, and retain top-tier talent across all departments, with an initial focus on technical roles vital to our AI-driven solutions. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and a passion for building high-performing teams in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy aligned with Charta Health’s growth objectives and mission
  • Maintain our recruiting infrastructure, including Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other necessary tools
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for all roles (technical, business, etc.), from sourcing and screening to offer negotiation and closing
  • Partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to define role requirements and create compelling job descriptions
  • Proactively source passive candidates using diverse methods and channels, building robust talent pipelines for current and future needs
  • Champion and cultivate an exceptional candidate experience that reflects Charta's culture and values
  • Develop and promote Charta Health's employer brand to attract high-caliber candidates
  • Establish key recruitment metrics and reporting cadences to track progress, identify bottlenecks, and inform strategy
  • Stay abreast of market trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in talent acquisition, particularly within the AI, tech, and healthcare sectors
  • Manage recruitment budget and vendor relationships effectively

You'd be a great fit if you have

  • 5+ years of proven experience in full-cycle recruiting, with significant experience hiring for technical roles (e.g., AI/ML engineers, software engineers, data scientists)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale a recruiting function, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience designing and implementing recruiting processes, strategies, and systems (including ATS selection/implementation)
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach – you're comfortable both planning and doing
  • Excellent sourcing skills with a track record of finding and engaging passive talent
  • The ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, build structure where none exists, and deliver results quickly
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex hiring processes simultaneously
  • Resilience, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving abilities to overcome recruitment challenges
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand how talent acquisition drives company success
  • Outstanding emotional intelligence, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience partnering with and influencing senior leadership and hiring managers
  • A genuine interest in the medical field and a passion for improving healthcare through technology

  • Prior experience as the first recruiting hire in a startup
